A member of the Zamboanga Consortium for Health Research and Development (ZCHRD) holds symposium on "Payapa: Developing Women as Peace Builders" at the Ateneo Law School building Last January 26, 2012. Pinay Kilos (PinK!) conducted the symposium to raise awareness on women and children living in areas of conflict. Along this line, several young-blooded professionals from Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, and Basilan as well as people from the different sectors in society came to take part in the said event.

The said young-blooded professionals including a nurse, will be more involved in improving the well-being of families and communities especially the women and children in the affected areas as they will undergo a 3-day conflict resolution and nation building training by by PinK!

ZCHRD stressed that health is of foremost importance as it will determine the capacity of an individual to perform activities of daily living. It further added that since the young-blooded professionals will go back to their communities to practice what they learned during the training conducted by PinK!, it should also pave the pave for gather more data as to what are the specific needs of the communities in terms of health. In doing so, it will greatly help health researchers to look deeper into the situation and come up with solutions to help mitigate if not eradicate concerns regarding health.

For PinK!, having a nurse who will be directly involved in the said undertaking will give different perspective in terms of planning and implementation of their programs.

Pinay Kilos is an advocate of Women and Children. They have been conducting commissioned researches for several institutions here and abroad. It is currently headed by Ms. Jasmin Teodoro-Dinsuat as its executive director. It has been a member of the Health Research Consortium since 2011.
