The Department of Science and Technology and EmTech Asia have recently began the search for the 2017 MIT Technology Review's Innovators.

Also known as TR35, the call for nominations goes out to young innovators under the age of 35 who have developed new technologies or have creative ways of applying existing technologies to solve problems.

Listed below is the selection criteria:

1. Nominees must be 35 or under as of October 1 2017. They must be citizens or current residents (including students) of one of the following countries:

Thailand  Indonesia Myanmar 
Singapore  Philippines  New Zealand
Malaysia  Laos Taiwan
Brunei Vietnam Australia
  Cambodia  

2. Creativity, ingenuity and impact of the nominee's work to society and the world in the years to come

3. Technical areas:

Biomedicine  Communication Web & Internet
Computing Energy Transportation
  Materials  

Nominations may be submitted at www.emtech.sg/tr35/nominate.

The 10 selected innovators will be celebrated at MIT Technology review's EmTech Asia in Singapore on February 14-15, 2017. These 10 will also automatically become candidates for the global TR35 list celebrated in the fall of 2017 at the MIT Media Lab in Boston, USA.

MIT Technology Review also showcases the global TR35 list in the September/October issue and online at www.technologyreview.com/lists/innovators-under-35.
