The Infant and Pediatric Nutrition Association of the Philippines (IPNAP) recently introduced the members of their ethics committee. The Ethics Committee is headed by former Health Secretary and milk code author Dr. Carmencita Reodica (center) and composed of (from left) former Deputy Ombudsman for Visayas Atty. Pelagio Apostol, former Health Undersecretary Dr. Ma. Margarita Galon, Birgli AG president Reiner Gloor, and former Trade Undersecretary and Laban Konsyumer, Inc. president Atty. Victorio Mario Dimagiba. IPNAP is an independent organization of the various players in the milk industry that helps in self-regulating the highly-monitored industry. The creation of an ethics committee helps IPNAP strengthen its thrust of improving the health and nutrition of infants and young children in the country. Also present during the event were members of the Philippine Pediatric Society, Nutritionist-Dietitians’ Association of the Philippines, Philippine Association of Nutrition, officials of the Department of Health and the Food and Nutrition Research Institute of the Department of Science and Technology.
